Stavborg is a solo project with roots going back to around 2000. Jonas began playing guitar in a high school band called The Project, which played a talent show and one small gig before dissolving.
He later joined The Family Grinders as a guitarist, where he gained his first hands-on experience with music production using FastTracker 2 on an old PC. This period established the foundation for his approach to writing, arranging, and producing heavy music.
In 2003, Repulsivore was formed as a two-man band with Erik Collin. During this time, Jonas stepped away from guitar and moved into vocals, experimenting with polyrhythms and using growled vocals for the first time. After Repulsivore went on hiatus, he focused on developing his songwriting as a solo effort.
In 2007, he reunited with Erik Collin to form Morbus, later joined by guitarist Jonas Hartikainen. Creative differences eventually brought the project to an end. Jonas and Jonas Hartikainen then went on to form Odjur, an ambitious project that ultimately never fully materialized.
After several years of working solo and a short-lived band following a move to Argentina, Stavborg was reactivated in 2018 as a fully solo project—independent, focused, and uncompromising in its approach to heavy music.
